We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in infectious disease modelling, epidemiology, and public health analytics. This position is embedded in TIMERA: Training Initiative for Modeling Epidemic Response in Africa, a Global Health EDCTP3-funded project on epidemic preparedness and modelling capacity strengthening in sub-Saharan Africa.
You will work closely with Dr Federica Giardina at Radboudumc and with partners in Europe and sub-Saharan Africa. The position focuses on research using modelling and infectious disease and public health data. Additional duties include developing teaching material, delivering selected teaching activities, and supervising or mentoring fellows working on applied modelling projects.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:
You will be based in the Biostatistics research group at Radboudumc in Nijmegen, within the department of IQ Health. The group works at the interface of research, education, and consultancy, using mathematical and statistical methods to address clinical and public health questions.
Within the infectious diseases theme, we develop and apply mathematical and statistical models to better understand infectious disease dynamics and support public health decision-making. You will join a collaborative and internationally oriented working environment, with room for independent research as well as multidisciplinary teamwork.
You will be working in the department of IQ Health. A department that is very active in teaching, research and consultation/service delivery. IQ Health originated from the former departments of Health Evidence and IQ healthcare.
IQ Health is a state-of-the-art research and teaching centre, where methods of research are themselves the subject of study and development. Through education and consultation (services), we help Radboudumc as well as external organisations in applying the right methods of research.

The IQ Health department employs about 200 colleagues. The heart of the IQ Health department consists of six Research & Education (R&E) groups. These groups work together internally and externally (nationally and internationally) on topical themes and are connected to the two core tasks of education and research. In addition, the groups provide external consultation. Will you also be part of this very diverse department?
We are looking for a motivated researcher with a strong quantitative background and a clear interest in infectious disease modelling for public health. You enjoy applying modelling approaches to real-world problems and can communicate quantitative concepts clearly to researchers, trainees, and public health stakeholders.
You will be successful in this role if you can work independently, collaborate effectively in an international consortium, and contribute to both scientific research and capacity strengthening activities in sub-Saharan Africa.
