Postdoctoral researcher in precision immuno-oncology and biomarker development

Solliciteer direct

Jouw functie

We are looking for a talented and driven postdoctoral researcher to join our translational oncology research group at Radboudumc, Nijmegen. Our group is committed to developing accurate, data-driven decision support tools for precision immuno-oncology, tailored to individual patients with thoracic malignancies based on tumour and patient characteristics.

You will play a central role in the analysis of biomarker data of the DEDICATION-1 trial (PMID: 38089058), a clinical study in advanced-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with a primary focus on biomarker discovery, development and validation. Your work will directly bridge laboratory findings with clinical application, contributing to a future in which treatment decisions in thoracic oncology are guided by robust, personalized biomarkers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Represent and strengthen the corporate identity of Radboudumc in all scientific and collaborative activities.
  • Take responsibility for structuring, curating, and safeguarding research data, working closely with the research team at the Department of Pulmonary Diseases and Department of Pharmacy, Pharmacology & Toxicology, to ensure that datasets are organized, interoperable, and accessible for future projects beyond individual research interests and act as an ambassador for transparent, collaborative, and sustainable data practices, promoting a culture of open science and long‑term research continuity beyond the scope of personal interests.
  • Lead and execute biomarker development analyses within the DEDICATION-1 trial, integrating multi-omics, immunological, and clinical datasets.
  • Present findings at national and international oncology and immunology conferences, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Actively contribute to building and maintaining an (inter)national research consortium, fostering collaborations between Radboudumc, UMCU, and other partner institutions.
  • Identify, write, and apply for competitive grants and fellowships (e.g., NWO, KWF, Horizon Europe, or industry-partnered funding).

Targets for the coming 2 years

  • Biomarker development - Analyse, present, and publish findings from DEDICATION-1.
  • Grant acquisition - Apply for and receive at least one competitive grant or award.
  • Consortium building - Expand the (inter)national research network actively.
  • Scientific output - Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
  • Data framework - Deliver a structured, documented, and future‑proof data framework for the DEDICATION-1 trial data.

Jouw werkplek

Our research group at Radboudumc is dedicated to translating scientific insights into clinical tools that improve outcomes for patients with thoracic malignancies. We operate at the interface of clinical oncology, pharmacology, immunopharmacology, tumour immunology, pathology, medical imaging and data science.

In close partnership with UMCU, we are an active and growing (inter)national consortium. The primary research location is Nijmegen (Radboudumc), with strong ties to Utrecht (UMCU). We value an open, inclusive, and collegial research culture.

Jouw profiel

  • PhD in (bio)medical sciences, computational biology, immunology, or a related field.
  • Expertise in translational cancer immunobiology, with a strong understanding of tumour-immune interactions and the tumour microenvironment.
  • Understanding of the clinical context where academic research is performed and data are collected.
  • Proficiency in data science, large multidimensional and combined analysis of different data sets, e.g. with machine learning or artificial intelligence applied to biomedical or clinical data.
  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary collaboration, working across clinical, translational, and computational research environments.
  • Strong scientific writing skills and a track record (or strong potential) in grant applications.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and capable of working independently in a dynamic research setting.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch is an asset.
